Baguio has been one of the most popular destinations in the Philippines and it has gotten more popular over time due to its accessibility and weather.

It is cold all year round in Baguio City due to its high altitude and location. It is located in Cordilleran mountain, which is approximately 4,810 feet (1,470 meters) above mean sea level. The temperature in Baguio City is 8 degrees Celsius lower than other places in the Philippines, with an average temperature of 15 to 23 degrees Celsius, usually even lower from December to February.
There are a lot of things that you can do in Baguio City and places that you must visit! For first-timers, visit Burnham Park, Baguio Botanical Garden, The Mansion, and Tam-awan Village.

3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary - Day 1
06:00 AM - Arrival (DAY 1 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
If you are traveling by bus, the bus terminal hub is located on Gov Pack Road, and you can find different bus lines and routes there. Victory Liner, on the other hand, is located at PNR Compound, Utility Road corner R Villalon St, Baguio City.
Manila to Baguio City is a 6-hour drive. You can alight a bus from Pasay, Cubao, and Sampaloc. If you are coming from outside Metro Manila, or North Luzon provinces, I suggest checking your local bus terminals for the schedule.
I'm from Tarlac City, and there are a handful of bus terminals in the city. I asked Solid North, Victory Liner, Genesis, and Siesta bus terminals about their bus schedules from Tarlac City to Baguio City but they don't have a fixed answer.
They said they only have a fixed schedule on their bus that depart from their main terminals in Metro Manila but are not sure of the exact time those buses are going to reach Tarlac City. So what we did is we just calculated it.
Genesis has an 11 PM Baguio trip, and Manila to Tarlac City is around 3-4 hours, depending on the traffic. So we estimated that the bus would arrive at Tarlac City around 2-3 AM.
Just take note that some bus routes travel through TPLEX (Tarlac Pangasinan La Union Expressway), so better check with your local bus terminal. For example, Solid North has a Tarlac-Baguio bus route but upon confirming the said trip was actually from La Paz, Tarlac to Baguio.
06:30 AM - Breakfast (DAY 1 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Initially, we planned to grab our breakfast in cafes near the Baguio Botanical Garden, but it was too early, and we wanted to freshen up, so we decided to just grab something and go to McDonald's Session Road.
There are 24/7 establishments in Session Road, so you don't have to worry that much.
After eating an early breakfast, we went back to Gov. Pack to drop off our bags. Since we wanted to roam and our check-in time was 2:00 PM, we decided to just drop off our bags and claim it before checking in.
There's a baggage counter/station around the city if you are looking for a place to drop off your bags. We choose the bag drop center (like a baggage counter) in the Gov Pack. It is inside a barber shop and has a CCTV camera.
For only 20Php per bag, you can leave your belongings there from 06:00 AM to 09:00 PM. Unlike other bag drops that we saw, this is much more affordable since it is not an hourly basis bag drop center. Our Airbnb suggested a bag drop/baggage counter since our Airbnb building doesn't allow baggage drop, but it's 50Php per hour per bag.
07:30 AM - Baguio Botanical Garden (DAY 1 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Photo: TG |
One of the best things we did was to visit the Baguio Botanical Garden first thing in the morning, is the best time to visit it. You get to see the beauty of the place without too many people. And I really think I couldn't enjoy that much if there were a lot of people.
We were in awe of the beauty we saw. It was a haven for flowers and plants! You can smell the sweetness of the flowers, and you can hear the buzzing of the bees. My friend even thought that the poinsettias were fake!
We were so lucky to witness the vibrant color of Baguio Botanical Garden. The poinsettias are in bloom and added more color to the Christmas vibe! They are vibrant red, and it almost looks like they are fake.
Poinsettias only bloom once a year during the cold months. In their off-season, they are just green.
After roaming around the garden, you can check their nursery and buy your own plants!
08:30 AM - Wright Park (DAY 1 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Photo: TG |
The Wright Park is near the Botanical Garden, and it is walkable. It is a 9-minute walk, but remember that some roads are uphill so if you are not a fan of uphill walking, then riding a taxi is the best for you.
Assuming that you're not in it for the walking and that you'll ride a taxi, I advise you to ask the taxi driver to drop you where the water fountains are and in front of the Mansion. Why? Because if you start from the horse stable, you have to climb long and steep cement stairs to get to the fountain and the Mansion gate.
At least, when you start in the water fountain it'll be easier for you to climb down the stairs to go to the horse stables.
The things that you can do in Wright Park include horseback riding, photo opp with the horses, having a picture with a Saint Bernard dog, buying souvenirs, and eating.
09:30 AM - The Mansion (DAY 1 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Photo: TG |
As mentioned earlier, if you are not keen on walking, you should visit The Mansion first, then Wright Park. The Mansion is just in front of Wright Park, and on September 08, 2024, it was opened to the public.
The Mansion is a famous tourist spot in Baguio. It is the official summer residence of the president of the Philippines and for the past years, visitors are only allowed to take photos from the outside of the main gate.
The main gate is now open giving the visitor more space for photos. Aside from that, the Mansion offers guided tours that run for 30-45 minutes from 09:00 - 11:00 AM and 01:00 - 03:00 PM.
The guided tours are free and can be booked directly on The Mansion website. They accept walk-ins but only if some slots are open due to no-show registrants so it's best to book your slots in advance.
11:00 AM - Lunch (DAY 1 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
There are a lot of restaurants near The Mansion where you can dine in. The nearest is the Mamita's Bulaluhan, a 2-minute walk from The Mansion. It is always busy, especially during peak hours, but it is a two-story building so they can accommodate you.
01:00 PM - Mines View Park (DAY 1 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Mines View Park gives you a stunning view of the Amburayan Valley. The best time of the year to visit Mines View Park is during the dry season around November to April since the weather is pleasantly cool.
Entering Mines View Park is free, but there are activities you can do that require certain fees that you have to pay.
02:00 PM - Accommodation Check-In (DAY 1 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
There are a lot of accommodations available in Baguio City. There are hotels, hostels, and transients depending on your preference. The price of an accommodation stay in Baguio depends on your preference.
There are hotels under 5,000Php per night, and there are other exclusive hotels that are more expensive. There are also hotels for solo travelers and if you are a backpacker, a hostel is for you.
If you are traveling to Baguio without an advanced booked accommodation, there are people offering transients near bus terminals that you can check. But depending on your travel dates, it can be more expensive, and there's no assurance of room availability.
03:00 PM - Rest (DAY 1 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Baguio City is so good, but it is tiring. The uphill climbs are struggles, especially for those who came from plains and flat land.
During my last visit, I realized that to fully enjoy Baguio City without injuring yourself, you have to be fit. Of course, you can still visit Baguio City regardless of your physique, but what I'm saying is that it's going to be beneficial to you if you are fit and can handle steep terrains.
06:00 PM - Dinner (DAY 1 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Baguio City has become a tourist hub where you can find something instantly, especially around Central Baguio District. Since we planned to check out Baguio Night Market, we decided to grab our dinner on Session Road.
Pizza Volante is a good restaurant offering great pizza and steak! It is located at the Theater Building, Diego Silang Street, Baguio City. They even have a vegetarian pizza that you must give a try.
08:00 PM - Session Road (DAY 1 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
After eating dinner, walk along Session Road to burn the calories you've just had. You can grab some snacks or dessert as well. I once tried to grab an ice cream from Vizco's at 09:00 PM!
Session Road is one of the busiest streets in Baguio City. They even close it on Sundays and locals and tourists have the best time of their lives. You can watch artists busking, children playing and drawing on the streets, and lots of mascots.
10:00 PM - Baguio Night Market (DAY 1 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
The Baguio Night Market is one of the most highlighted activities in Baguio City. It is a flea market that opens at night along Harrison Road. The said road is closed for vehicles every night from 10:00 PM - 04:00 AM for the Baguio Night Market operating hours.
You can find preloved and thrift items there and also RTWs. You can buy local items and goods for souvenirs. It is also a great place to try local delicacies and street foods since there's a portion where you can buy food.
3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary - Day 2
08:00 - Good Shepherd (DAY 2 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
When you want to buy pasalubong, Good Shepherd is your go-to. Good Shepherd is known for their Ube and Strawberry jams.
Good Shepherd's price is relatively higher compared to others because it is a training center and proceeds go to youth trainings and scholarships.
The best time to visit Good Shepherd is early in the morning, around 08:00 AM. Good Shepherd is so popular that most of the time their product sells out fast. They also have maximum purchases to prevent hoarders.
09:00 AM - Mt. Cloud Bookshop (DAY 2 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Mt. Cloud Bookshop of also known as a bookstore near SM Baguio is now located at 1 Yangco Road, Corner Brent Road, Baguio. This bookstore is the house of many local books written and published by local artists.
If you are looking for an indie book, this is the place to go. This bookstore doesn't have an online store, so you really have to check their place.
11:00 PM - Lunch (DAY 2 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
After visiting Mt. Cloud Bookshop, Red Rustikz is a nearby restaurant with good. It is a 6-minute walk from Mt. Cloud Bookshop.
Red Rustikz has rice meals, pasta, and chicken. If you want, you can avail of their unli meals.
01:00 PM - Tam-awan Village (DAY 2 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Photo: TG |
Visiting Tam-awan Village is one of the highlights of my Baguio City trip, and I'll always recommend this. The easiest way to go to Tam-awan Village is to ride a taxi.
Tam-awan Village is famous for being a living museum. It is a home for many artists and masterpieces. It is a museum and a village with real-life huts where you can rest and galleries.
Personally, I prefer this better than the Igorot Stone Kingdom Inc. A lot of local also recommends Tam-awan Village rather than Igorot Stone.
Tam-awan Village showcases the real traditions and beliefs of Cordillerans and how they live. There's a cafe inside the Tam-awan Village, and you can watch native Cordilleran performances
03:00 PM - Rest (DAY 2 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Return to your accommodation to rest since today's activity requires intense walking.
05:00 PM - Lounge and Dinner (DAY 2 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Visit SM Baguio Sky Garden where you can lounge and just chill. Enjoy the overlooking view of the whole of Baguio City.
You can also choose from a lot of shops inside SM Baguio City for your dinner. In our case, we decided to try Hawker Chan. Their beef is super tender and flavorful.
If you still want to visit Baguio Night Market, you can do so. But a visit to Baguio Night Market is actually enough.
3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary - Day 3
07:00 AM - Baguio Pasalubong Market (DAY 3 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
So for the last day, you can schedule the pasalubong shopping in the morning. If you are looking for the best pasalubong deals in Baguio City, you will find it at Baguio Market and Abanao Square.
There are plenty of stalls selling food and souvenirs. And almost all the best Baguio pasalubongs are available there.
09:00 AM - Vizco's Session Road (DAY 3 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Photo: TG |
If you can walk from Baguio Market (it's possible since we've done it!) to Session Road, you can grab a brunch at Vizco's. Vizco's is famous for its Strawberry Shortcake but they also have other meals!
You should try their Fish Fillet in Sauce Bercy, it is served with rice already.
11:00 AM - Check-out (DAY 3 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Most accommodation check-out in Baguio is at 11:00 AM. Head back to your hotel to prepare all your things. Always make sure to pack the important stuff.
It's up to you if you still want to have lunch if yes, there are a lot of restaurants for lunch in Baguio City.
02:00 PM - Departure (DAY 3 - 3D2N DIY Baguio Itinerary)
Depending on where you are going, there are two main terminals in Baguio City. The Gov Pack bus terminal and the Victory Liner terminal.
Since we're just from Tarlac, we prefer the Gov Pack bus terminals than the Victory Liner terminal. Victory Liner bus terminal is perfect for those who are going to NCR since most of their routes going to NCR use TPLEX. Their bus routes that will pass by inner cities are very limited.
It is more convenient to ride a bus from Gov Pack if you're going to Tarlac.
